永住許可は、在留資格を有する外国人が永住者への在留資格の変更を希望する場合に、法務大臣が与える許可であり，在留資格変更許可の一種です。

永住権を取得すると以下のようなメリットがあります。

 （１） 在留活動の制限がなくなるため、基本日本人と同じようにどのような職にでも就くことができます。

 （２）在留期間の制限がなくなるため、在留期間の更新をする必要はなく、日本に在留し続けることができます。

 （３）ビザ等の更新は必要なくなり、更新の時期に入管に出向く必要がなくなります。

 （４）配偶者ビザ等の身分関係に依存した在留資格の場合、離婚等の事由により在留資格がなくなることがありますが、永住者の在留資格を取得すると、離婚等の身分関係の変動事由とは関係なく、日本で生活することができます。

（５）日本で社会生活をする上で、信用が得られやすくなります。

（６）国籍を変えることなく安定して日本に居住することができます。

要件は概ね３つです。

（１）素行が善良であること。

（２）独立の生計を営むに足りる資産または技能を有すること。

（３）法務大臣が日本の利益に合致すると認めたこと。

Permanent residence permission

Permanent residence permission is a permission granted by the Minister of Justice when a foreigner with a status of residence wishes to change his/her status to permanent residence, and is a type of permission to change his/her status of residence.

Advantages of permanent residence permission

Obtaining permanent residence has the following advantages.

(1) There are no restrictions on activities while residing, so you can basically take any job, just like a Japanese person.

(2) There are no restrictions on the period of stay, so you do not need to renew your period of stay and can continue to reside in Japan.

(3) There is no need to renew your visa, so you do not need to go to the immigration office when it is time to renew.

(4) In the case of a status of residence that depends on the status of residence, such as a spouse visa, the status of residence may be lost due to reasons such as divorce, but if you obtain a permanent resident status, you can live in Japan regardless of reasons for changes in status such as divorce.

(5) It is easier to gain trust when living in society in Japan.

(6) You can live in Japan stably without changing your nationality.

Requirements

There are roughly three requirements.

(1) Be of good conduct.

(2) Have sufficient assets or skills to earn an independent living.

(3) The Minister of Justice must recognize that it is in the interest of Japan.

(9) Documents verifying the assets of the applicant or the person supporting the applicant

(10) Documents related to the guarantor

(11) Documents related to contributions to Japan
